Ever since I can remember I look for little things that make me happy. If you don't do it, give it a try! You'll be suprised to see how many things can make us smile. Some people watch little kittens on the internet, others go shopping, I take a cup of tea and go through all the pictures on my computer. I don't have a diary, I don't write down my memories, so these pictures are the only source of memories I have. Maybe that's why I take a lot of pictures everywhere I go. And from time to time I sift through them and think about my friends. Most of them are now studying abroad and I miss them very much. Sometimes I take pictures of Szczecin and send them so that they remember that no matter where they are, being in Szczecin is always better.
And that's one of the pictures I took while jogging in Szczecin. I took it in a park where my friend used to run a lot, now she's in Barcelona, but she still misses this place. And so do I. Can you blame us? ;)

Wikipedia :
Procrastination is the practice of carrying out less urgent tasks in preference to more urgent ones, or doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones, and thus putting off impending tasks to a later time, sometimes to the "last minute" before the deadline.
Very accurate, very actual, very sad but true. My procrastination consists of eating chocolate and drinking fifty mugs of tea a day. Fortunately I don't spent much time in my flat, I run from university to work, but this week I have suprisingly much free time and instead of using it wisely and productively, I just sit and chill and listen to music. Maybe it's good for my mental health, but definitely not for my university projects. But I guess everyone gets lazy at this time of year, only 3 weeks to Christmas!

I have no idea why, but recently I suffer from insomnia. Every weekend I go to Szczecin to sleep for at least two nights a week, but when I come back to Poznań I simply cannot rest. Despite the fact that I'm unable to think during the day, it makes my nights quite productive. I have time to read more and there is one particular book I can't stop thinking about. It's "The book thief".
You have no idea how much I admire every single page of this book. It's touching, but not in a pompous way that makes you cry all the time. I'm not going to tell you what's the plot, if you want, you can discover it. At a certain point you know how the book is going to end, but even then you keep reading. It's been a while since I cried while reading a book and since I didn't get out of my bus simply because I didn't realise that I need to do it, as I was so focused on the lecture.

November came and I have know idea how that happened, time runs so fast when there's so much to do.
To make it run a little slower we need to find something to relax. I try to do jogging as often as possible, but with studies and work it's getting harder. Not to mention the weather - I have to admit, it's much better than it used to be and we can't complain - this year's november is beautiful! But on the other hand I tend to get sick every time I leave my flat, that's why I've decided to do fitness in front of my computer. I know, sounds stupid, but when there's no time to go to the fitness club, what can I do?

Even learning seems better after an hour of workout! Now I start to talk like Chodakowska or other famous women who want us to eat goji berries and sprouts so it's about time I finish.
But you know what's the best motivation? After one hour training you don't have to worry about eating a bar of chocolate, and that's one thing I can't resist.

"The world has shrunk a lot in recent decades, and many people settle in countries where they can find better opportunities for themselves and their families. Should those who choose to live in a foreign country be required to learn its official language? If you know some real-life stories or problems related to the question, share them with us. Present your opinions on your blogs before October ends."
First thing that came to mind mind after reading our "october task" was my stay in England. Two years ago I worked there for two months in a candle factory. There were only Polish people working and English people administrating. The strangest thing was that only few of them knew English, on a very basic level. As a result, the owner of this factory decided to promote one Polish woman to translate everything and to control our work. The problem was, she was insanely stupid.
I don't usually judge people or say such mean things about them, but in this particular case I was really frustrated, so forgive me my harshness. I've been there for only six weeks so somehow I managed to cope with her, but every time I think about people who are still working there, I get really sad. They come from very different parts of Poland, very diverse social groups, they all decided to leave Poland to make a living somewhere else. The thing is, they get the minimum wage and they work in very hard conditions.
Our task was to clean and pack candles, we did it for about 12 hours a day, everyday. That was about 5 thousand candles cleaned and packed per person. Don't get me wrong, I felt very thankful to be given that opportunity, I saved some money and I was really glad since I have absolutely nothing against hard work. But then again, I knew it was only for six weeks.
But let's come back to the story of this silly Polish girl who was in charge of communication. She's doing her nails almost every week, she bought herself a huge apartment and she really earns a lot of money. But believe me, her English skills have nothing to do with the real English communication.
My problem is that many of the people I met are very hard working, they need this money to live, they miss Poland very much yet all they earn they spend for rent, food and transport to factory every day. They could earn more, they could get the money they really deserve for such a hard work, the problem is, they are not capable of expressing their demands. They are so petrified with the idea of speaking English, that they just do their job and let the silly lady humiliate them every day.
So what I'm trying to say is that people shoud learn at least the very basics of the language spoken in the country their going to, otherwise they may become victims of a very unfair division of responsibilities.

General idea of this blog is to post something from time to time, I decided to do it every weekend. This week I'am breaking this rule and writing another post because my friend discovered something I want to share.
It's perfect for every philology student, especially for those who, just like me, learn how to become a good teacher. This short monologue pretty much sums up everything I've been searching for in every methodology book. That's exactly an approach I want to give out to every student I'm going to teach - I want to motivate them by showing, that languages are not that difficult, if you fail in school is not because you don't have any language skills. I'm not a fan of learning languages so numerously, I enjoy focusing on some of them to really soak into the learning process, but anyway, many of the tips given by Mateusz Grzesiak I find really interesting and worth listening to. Enjoy!

As the humidity and darkness arrive, it's probably time to find something uplifting for this chilly, yet still beautiful time of year.
The action of the video takes place in Szczecin so you can see what a great city that is.
Today I want to share another song. It has nothing do to with developing our English skills since the lyrics are in polish, but just listen to this guy. His irony and extraordinary perception of reality are not so common now, when all you can hear on the radio is that is good to wiggle.

His most popular song is probably "To nic nie znaczy" (hilarious lyrics!), but I want to post "Wyślijcie sobie pocztówkę" since it's his brand new single. Enjoy!

Hi everyone,
I would like to start - not very originally or neatly, I suppose - by an apology.
This is my very first blog and as you're going to find out, the whole concept of blogging is a great mystery to me. So don't expect any nice visual elements, the only thing I can do right now is change the font.
I have no idea what is this blog going to be about. It's been a week in Poznań and I am already homesick, so you can probably expect few photos of my hometown - Szczecin. Except from that - maybe something about my favourite books, places to go to or music to listen to.
As far as my homesickness is concerned I can recommend you a great Adele's song - Hometown glory.
It's great to listen to at this time of year, when it's getting colder and darker and all you want to do is grab a blanket and a cup of tea.
Being a fan of Adele is probably not the most original thing recently, but there are so many great songs apart from "someone like you" (that everyone is sick of these days) that she's always worth mentioning.
